Dr. Huey P. Newton Way Dedication

A three-block section of 9th Street in West Oakland will be re-named to Dr. Huey P Newton Way. According to Fredrika Newton, Dr. Newton's widow and the founder/president of the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation: “The street naming is the first of many initiatives that the Foundation has undertaken to promote and celebrate the incredible work and legacy of the Black Panther Party here, in Oakland. To have this go up during Black History Month and with the support of city residents and officials is especially significant and something about which we can all be proud.”

Visit the Foundation website for more information and to donate.
