Permanently Affordable Housing: How We Do It & Opportunities

Dear friends, family and constituents,

In my last newsletter, I shared how prior to becoming a councilmember, one key component I fought for and co-designed with Steve King from OakCLT, Justin Tombolesi and staff in the City’s Housing and Community Development Department was the PAHF: Preservation of Affordable Housing Fund, which later became the Acquisition and Conversion to Affordable Housing (ACAH) program.

The program’s history, significance and how we’re now moving the initiative even further through the creation of a revolving loan fund, are now all in this Instagram post, as well as below, so you can share more easily. I'm also including some slides on CLT 101 and two current housing opportunties available at OakCLT! Links here to 8000 Olive Street and 6831 Eastlawn Street, available for $247,000-$264,00!!

I cannot emphasize enough how this fund is a huge step forward in creating the ecosystem where permanently affordable housing, such as these houses I just mentioned, can become a reality in Oakland. Shoutout to all the organizers who work tirelessly to make housing a human right, recognizing new horizon lines and opportunities to further our collective work. Part three of my housing newsletter series will be focussed squarely on these strategies.

In service and in solidarity,

Councilmember Carroll Fife
